The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking an Information Analyst/Librarian.
Provide professional science & technology knowledge research and resource development services in the R.E. Gibson Library and Information Center.
Perform research for Laboratory scientists and engineers in sci-tech related topics using online databases and other knowledge sources as necessary and appropriate. Search major commercial databases, organize and synthesize results, and analyze content.
Participate in Library outreach/marketing activities.
Plan, develop, and deliver customized and cutting edge information products and services
Identify and manage content of internal web portals
Participate in the identification, selection, and acquisition of knowledge resources
Required: Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in science or technology. In respective field, working knowledge of print and electronic resources appropriate for a research environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a complex, changing environment. Must possess a strong interest in and ability to actively engage and support customers within their own work environment. Must have effective customer service skills.
Desired: MLS or MS in science or technology field from an accredited institution. Proficiency using online services such as Dialog, ISI Web of Knowledge, other specialized fee-based databases. At least 1 year of applicable library/information services experience providing information research to meet the needs of scientists and engineers, and the application of information technologies to serve these populations.
Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.
