The British Library launches a research service
The British Library has launched a research service, British Library Direct, that offers access to a fully searchable database of nine million article titles from 20,000 international research journals. The records go back five years. More entries are added each month. Users (the service is targeted to small business and independant researchers) can buy articles with a credit card. The journals cover medicine, pharmacy, engineering, science, food and agriculture, economics, environment, law and education.
Research Services, where the research is made by BL “information experts”, are also available. Fields of particular strenghts would be Patents, trademarks and designs; Biology and medicine; Chemistry; Engineering and technology; Companies and markets and Official publications.
