ACS broadens article access

Mar 7, 2005 by

The ACS is introducing two experimental policies to broaden access to research articles published in its scholarly journals.

The first policy is a response to NIH guidelines on free access; ACS will submit to PubMed, in name of their authors funded by the agency, the authors’ versions of unedited manuscripts 12 months after the edited, final articles are published by ACS.

The second policy expand an already existing practice of ACS. Currently, authors have the right to distribute up to 50 free digital reprints of their articles via an unique website address. Now, unlimited free access to the same pages will be permitted one year after publication.
