Water damage in UNew Mexico

Dec 28, 2004 by

The Centennial Science and Engineering Library at the University of New Mexico suffered severe water damage over the Christmas week-end due to bursting pipes. Camila A. Alire, Dean of Library Services, expects that the renovation and restoration of both building and materials will take 3 months in a worst-case scenario. She is requesting, in a post sent to the ARL directors list,:

  • Priority status for ILL books in all the sciences and engineering, preferably at no cost. (We understand the constraints and challenges this will place on you all given the assistance you are providing to the University of Hawaii folks. However, anything you can do would be greatly appreciated).
  • Understand that we will not be able to loan any of the science and engineering materials until we are fully recovered.
