Call for Speakers on Chemical Information Careers

Sep 9, 2004 by

In March, the Division of Chemical Information of the ACS will be presenting a symposium on Careers in Chemical Information at the ACS National Meeting in San Diego. Speakers are needed for that symposium for 25-30 minutes talks.

The aim of this symposium is to introduce students to the various kinds of chemical information careers, and to provide guidance to chemists who may be considering a career change. We aim to give a complete view of the chemical information profession, covering all the different types of information careers in which chemists or chemistry majors can apply their training, experience, talent, and skills.

Speakers with experience in the following fields are needed (academic librarianship is already covered):

  • Industrial Information Centers

  • Patents
  • Government Careers
  • Non-Profit information centers
  • Publishing
  • Computational Chemistry

Deadline for for submission of abstracts is November 23.

Contact Philip Barnett with your interest, or any questions. A website is also available for some guidance.
