AIP Scientation maintenance and testing

Jul 13, 2004 by

This weekend, from July 16, 5:00PM EDT to July 18, 11:59 EDT the American Institute of Physics will be performing maintenance on its primary systems for the Scitation online hosting service. During this period, users will be directed to the failover system to access publications content for the first time. There also might be some brief, intermittent service outages on July 18, from 10:00 pm to 11:59 pm.

Since it will be the first time, AIP is requesting “reviewers” for the process. The review of the site should not take more than 15 minutes. If you are interested in participating, contact scitationtest@aip.org. In the future, in case of any emergency to the primary systems, operations will transition to this failover site.

From a patrons’ point of view, the failover system will appear identical to the primary Scitation site except for the following:

  • Account maintenance services will be unavailable. Individual users will be unable to register new user accounts, change passwords, or view download activity for personal article pack subscriptions.

  • Document purchasing facilities (Scitation DocumentStore) will be unavailable.
  • MyScitation toolbox services (MyPublications, MySubscriptions, MyArticles)will be available for viewing existing selections, but users will not be able to add or delete items.
  • All browse, search, and article download functions should function exactly as they do on the primary Scitation site.
