Other model of preprint: e-LC

Mar 24, 2004 by

George Porter noticed a new kind of preprint service demonstrated by electronic-Liquid Crystal Communications (e-LC). The articles are available online, with accompanying discussion forums, but instead of being subsequently published into a companion journal, they are intended to feed the more traditional journals in the field. e-LC has thus negotiated editorial agreements with major “traditional” publishers. Once formally published, the citation to the article and appropriate linking is done.

e-LC is hosted by the Liquid Crystal Institute at Kent State University and has been running since the end of 2002.
